Pomeranians are classified by the AKC as a toy breed with an ideal weight of 3-7 lbs. "Teacup" Pomeranians are selectively bred to be smaller than the standard, typically weighing 2-4 lbs when fully grown.

• Standard Pomeranian — 3-7 lbs adult weight, 6-7 inches tall. Robust, playful, and energetic. The AKC breed standard size.
• Teacup Pomeranian — 2-4 lbs adult weight, 5-6 inches tall. More delicate, requires extra care. Popular for their ultra-compact size and adorable proportions.

Both sizes share the same spirited, intelligent Pomeranian temperament. Teacup Pomeranians require more careful handling — they are not recommended for households with very young children (under 6) due to their fragile bones. However, for adults and older children, they make exceptional, highly portable companions.

• Teddybear Face — Shorter snout, round eyes set close together, plush cheeks. Creates an adorable, stuffed-animal-like appearance. This is the most popular and most requested face type. Teddybear face Poms have a flatter profile than fox face.
• Fox Face — Longer, pointed snout, alert expression, more traditional Spitz-like appearance. Fox face is actually closer to the original Pomeranian breed standard. Fox face Poms tend to have a more elegant, regal look.

Pomeranians are well-suited to Miami living but require specific care attention:

• Coat maintenance — Pomeranians have a double coat that requires brushing 2-3 times per week to prevent matting. Professional grooming every 6-8 weeks is recommended. Our grooming packages include Pom-specific coat care.
• Heat sensitivity — Despite their fluffy appearance, Pomeranians tolerate heat better than bulldogs due to their smaller body mass. However, limit outdoor time during peak Miami heat and always provide shade and water.
• Dental care — Toy breeds are prone to dental issues. Daily tooth brushing and annual dental cleanings are recommended.
• Nutrition — Small, frequent meals (3-4 times daily for puppies, 2 times for adults). High-quality small-breed food with appropriate portion sizes to prevent obesity.
• Exercise — 20-30 minutes daily of moderate activity. Pomeranians are surprisingly energetic and enjoy short walks and play sessions.
